It’s that time of year – the holiday hustle is real, am I right? It seems like everyone I meet these days has some kind of side hustle going on, and I really appreciate that. Everyone’s trying to earn AND save more, which never comes easy. With so many of us getting our side hustlin’ on, I thought it would be fun and inspiring to do a quick roundup of some of my favorite home office accessories that will turn your home office in tip-top, sparkling shape (literally!).

My favorite planner that I have been using for the past few years is the Uncalendar. One of the features that I like about it so much is that it is undated so you can use it as you need it. If I’m going on vacation one week and won’t be needing it, then I don’t have to waste a page.
The Uncalendar spread has a lot to offer – both weekly and monthly sections. For the weekly section, the left side has different boxes (with a KEY to show you how you can use the boxes) for lists, a graph, isolation boxes, a “catch all” section,” and then the right side page has a weekly plan box, 2 other boxes for phone calls, home projects, finances, etc. and individual Monday-Sunday boxes for your schedule (I like separating the days by what is happening during my work day and then evening events. The monthly section is simple – it has boxes for each day along with an extra column on the left-hand side for notes.
The Uncalendar is also offered in a full and half-size. Three solid colors are offered (not the cutest planner out there), but I have decorated my cover to make it into an inspirational collage. I currently have the full-size but am considering downsizing to the half-size for ease-of-carrying. Overall, the key is to get a planner that works for you!
Having a laptop cover not only protects your beloved piece of technology, but it also showcases your own personality, too. I have had a cheetah cover on my Macbook Air for the past year and a half, however, I am definitely ready for a change and am about to purchase this marble design cover (too excited!). There’s just something about marble, isn’t there?!
Having enough space to do work is important, but sometimes hard to find (especially in NYC!). Getting yourself a fully functional desk is essential for you to b able to comfortably sit and focus on your work at hand.
I have an L-shaped corner desk in my apartment, which I love because on one side I can have my laptop set up, and then on the other side is clear, open counter space where I can have my planner laid out, needed shipping materials (I sell clothing on eBay), etc. without cluttering my laptop workspace. Check out this desk.
If you’re anything like me, clutter seriously affects my concentration. I need clean, open space to get into my “deep focus” workflow. These metallic desk organizers are the perfect pieces to keep all your desk accessories in their respective places.
Whether you use your trusty iPhone headphones or prefer over-the-ear headphones, these babies are a must. To get into my zone, I tap on Spotify and go to either the “Deep Focus” or “Electro Now” stations to get my concentration on. Although I typically use my iPhone headphones, I am considering trying out some over-the-ear headphones, and these are soo cute + have positive reviews.
Don’t you hate it when you can’t get situated because of an uncomfortable seat? Having the perfect desk chair that has enough cushion + back support makes the most difference between a slouchy, unproductive day and a knock-it-out-of-the-park-on-productivity kind of day. Go for the ladder of the two with this chair.
Area rugs are my jam. If I could afford a new one every few months, I would totally change mine out often because I love the different looks (handwoven, shag, natural fiber, patterned) so much. My office space has hardwood floors, and adding a 4×6 or 5×7 rug to this space has really cozied it up (and the fur babies that I dog sit appreciate the rug, too!).
I fell in love with a couple upcycled rugs I found at Marshalls, but they currently live in my living room. I’m actually in the market right now for a new office rug and have been checking deals out here and here for affordable-ish, neutral options.
Everyone gets inspiration from somewhere. Make sure you can plaster your own hustlin’ inspo up on these cork boards.
When I go off on an internet tangent, it’s usually looking at wall art inspiration on either Pinterest or Etsy. Of course, I am always looking for wall art freebies but sometimes you just gotta spend a little to get exactly what you wants. Check out a few of my favorite wall art Etsy sellers (1,2,3).
Most likely, you already know that you need good, natural light near your office space. Got it. However, it’s really important to invest in nice, soft artificial lighting to maximum your comfort AND productivity while working (hard lighting causes harsher shadows, more difficulty reading documents on your screen aka eyestrain, and dry burning eyes). An article from EarthLED says, “Putting cool white lights in the office that mimic daylight will increase serotonin production keeping you focused, alert, and energized.”
Choosing the perfect lamp is the fun part.
Working on a side hustle is a grind. Ensuring that you have an inspiring, functional, and comfortable office space will increase your focus, productivity, and hustling capabilities! I hope these stylish home office accessories have inspired you to invest in a little somethin’ somethin’ to refresh your home office and start 2017 with a side-hustling bang!
