September Goals

Hellllo September, and happy Labor Day! Seriously, the first day of September, the weather was like, “Alright, chill out.” Pun totally intended. I am so happy – you will not see me complaining when the weather starts to cool down, I absolutely love legging and boot season!

I’m excited to share my monthly mind-body-soul goals post with y’all today. Let’s take a look back at August and what I was working towards.

 August Goals in Review

  1. Control my thought patterns more effectively.
  2. Hit my 10,000 step goal every day during the week.
  3. Have all mentors from the Startup Summer program get thank you notes from the high school student entrepreneurs.
This month, I wrote a post that made me feel very vulnerable, explaining how I’ve felt paranoia for what seems like forever. Lately, I’ve been really focused on changing my thought patterns, and I will say that I’ve felt more control of my mind in the past few weeks and will continue to use strategies to distract myself whenever crazy thoughts come into my head.

In regards to my steps, I have been hitting my 10,000 step goal 80% of workdays. It helped that I was out of the office and running around leading a summer program this past month, so I’m going to need to revamp how I get my steps in with the start of the school year happening this week.

Finally, I was able to have each Startup Summer student entrepreneur write thank you notes to their mentors. For those of you who don’t know what Startup Summer is and want to learn more, check this out; leading this program has been one of the most fulfilling professional opportunities that I’ve had! Of course, I believe it’s incredibly important to write thank you notes to people who have had influence on your life, and it was so fun seeing what the students wrote their mentors.

September Goals

Maybe it’s because I’ve been in a constant state of DO and recently haven’t spent a lot of time on personally reflecting, but deciding on this month’s goals was harder than any other month’s goal-setting process. However, I’ve finally come to a consensus on this month’s mind-body-soul goals! Here they are:

  1. Be the expert.
  2. Take time to treat my body through self-care (I want to do more stretching throughout the day, focus on better posture, and pamper my body with at-home facials, eating food that nourishes my body, etc.).
  3. Enjoy going on dates with my boo.
I’m coming back to the expert “mind” goal of mine. With the beginning of the school year starting this week, the work that I do transitions from student-focused help (during the summer program I lead) to teacher-focused support throughout the school year. The non-profit that I work for has a lot of new and exciting initiatives as well as a lot of changes from previous years. With that in mind, I want to position myself for success with my professional role.

This summer was such a whirlwind. I haven’t been treating my body how I’d like to – not eating breakfast, buying take-out for lunch, barely eating dinner – this is so unlike me! Stress has a funny way of taking my consistency and throwing it out the door, and I’m disappointed because I still let that happen to me. For my “body goal,” I’m going to emphasize self-care this month. Getting back on the track I want to be is super important this month! I’m looking forward to homemade meals, more time at home, and having a more zen outlook on life.

Last but certainly not least, for my “soul goal,” I’m prioritizing my relationship. My boyfriend and I both have been so busy, and I have not been prioritizing us or spending quality time together. Cesar is my rock, and I am looking forward to enjoying each other’s company more often this month.

September goals – written down, that makes ’em real, right?! It definitely feels good to have a plan for this month. What about you? What are a 1-2 goals that you want to achieve this month? Share in the comments below.
